PGA de Catalunya
Voted as one of ten best golf courses of Europe, the magnificent PGA de Catalunya golf course was once referred to as the ‘jewel in the crown’. With a Pyrenees backdrop, the golf course casts an enchanting spell on all its visitors. Designed and conceived by Angel Gallardo and Neil Coles, PGA de Catalunya was opened at the end of 1998. It has been a host for the Spanish open in 2000 and the Sarazen World Open in 1999.
The undulating land of Costa Brava area of Cataluna where the golf course is located is decorated with oak linings, evergreen forests and heather lining. Both amateurs and professional golfers can enjoy the cutting-edge facilities provided at this golf course which boasts of some of the most spectacular holes. It comprises of 36 holes and has a total length of about 7160 yards.
Location

Girona is at a distance of 15 kms and the Girona airport is at distance of 10 minutes from the golf course. Visitors can also reach this place from Barcelona which is at a mere distance of 45 minutes from the golf course.

The PGA de Catalunya boasts of two well-equipped golf courses that comprise of a large number of facilities for golfers- the red course and the green course. The green course is larger than the red course and is used for larger tournaments. The amazing thing about this golf course is that every hole here can be played from five different tees. At a certain point, the course winds its way into the hills with vegetation, beautiful green fir trees and scrubs. The large number of lakes on the course blends beautifully in the course’s landscape. Water is creatively and decoratively used on some holes to form semi-green islands.
